South Korea’s Amy Yang won the Honda LPGA Thailand for the 3rd time in Pattaya on Sunday, completing at 22-under-par 266 after a tense three-way tie.
Thailand’s world number 1 Ariya Jutanugarn fell even more on the leaderboard on the last round with a 70 with 2 bogeys, while her sibling Moriya fared much better with a 69.
Scoring a string of birdies early in the day, the 29-year-old Yang was confronted with a tie on 15 for 20-under-par with Australia’s Minjee Lee and Spain’s Carlota Ciganda.
She rapidly resumed her lead on 16, and took the prize and $240,000 reward house after a birdie on 18.
” I understood I was sharing the lead however all I attempted to do was keep focusing and be client,” she stated.
Yang, who formerly won the competition in 2015 and 2013, stated playing at the Pattaya course was “unique” to her.
” I am extremely honoured to have 3 wins here,” Yang stated.
Spaniard Ciganda confessed to having “nerves” and “adrenaline” for the last couple of holes.
However she stated she was “total extremely pleased” with her efficiency, completing at 20-under-par 268.
South Korea’s Jenny Shin, who was Friday’s frontrunner, tracked carefully behind at 17-under-par, while LPGA Australian Open winner Nelly Korda was 3 strokes behind her.
The $1.6 million LPGA Thailand is being held at the par-72 Siam Nation Club Pattaya Old Course in Chonburi province.
