Itthiphol Kunplome, till just recently the minister for culture, was detained on his arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport from Phnom Penh on Monday early morning for supposed graft in a questionable condo task he authorized 15 years back when Pattaya mayor.
He was later on relased on court bail.
Migration cops detained him at Bangkok’s primary airport when he reached 10am. He was desired under a court arrest warrant released early last month.
Cops took him right away to the general public district attorneys’ Area 2 workplace for corruption cases in the eastern province of Rayong.
The Wrongdoer Court for Misbehavior and Corruption Cases in Rayong authorized the arrest warrant on Sept 5 since Mr Itthiphol did not report as bought to public district attorneys. He went to Cambodia.
Prayut Pecharakhun, representative of the Workplace of the Attorney-General, stated district attorneys took Mr Itthiphol to the court in Rayong on Monday afternoon.
Mr Itthiphol rejected the charges and informed the court he would discover a legal representative to protect him.The court adjourned the hearing to Oct 31, enabling him time to engage a legal representative, and launched him on bail of 120,000 baht.
The previous cabinet minister is implicated of unlawfully authorizing the building of the substantial Waterside Suites & & Residences condo structure, ignoring Bali Hai marina, on Sept 10, 2008, when he was Pattaya mayor.
Bali Hai Co was the task owner. The building stays insufficient. There is an order for its demolition.
The Waterside task was created to have 57 floorings on two-rai of land at the foot of Khao Phra Tamnak hill, surrounding to Pattaya Bay and Bali Hai Pier.
The task was challenged over its style and the land it was developed on.
Mr Itthiphol, 50, was till just recently the minister for culture, designated a member of the 2nd cabinet of previous prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in July 2019. He is a more youthful sibling of previous Pattaya mayor Sonthaya Kunplome.
