BANGKOK, Thailand – Ambassadors from 41 countries participated in the 13th “Thai Silk Road to the World” fashion show on Saturday (Aug 31) to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. The event, organized by the Culture Ministry, took place at the Royal Thai Navy’s Auditorium and was presided over by Caretaker Culture Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol.

The fashion show featured four acts, with performances by Cabinet members, government representatives, and foreign envoys showcasing elaborate Siamese costumes, traditional fabric patterns, and Thai silk designs. Honorary consuls from 20 nations also participated in the event, celebrating Thailand’s cultural heritage.

The event, broadcast live to 93 countries, was made possible through collaboration between the Public Relations Department and foreign embassies in Thailand. The finale included a special message from the Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand, wishing Queen Sirikit a belated happy birthday for her August 12 celebration.

In addition to the fashion show, attendees were treated to cultural performances, including traditional dances and a lantern light parade with a puppet show. The event also included the presentation of awards to the winners of the 5th Next Big Silk Designer Contest 2023. (NNT)
