The 42nd Thailand Tourism Festival, held on 28 March – 1 April 2024 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, was considered a great success, with a total of 152,799 people attending the event, more than double the number of last year and higher than the target set. It also generated income of 63,487,357 baht, and over 96 percent of the visitors were satisfied with the event. “Travel inspiration” increased by 89.82 percent, with Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi being the provinces where people were most interested in visiting.
As a result of this travel festival, 89.49 percent of people became more interested in traveling to various communities and experiencing the Thai way of life, and 87.68 percent of them learned about new places and gained new experiences.
An important topic at the festival was the implementation of the activity “Zero Waste to Landfills.” Last year, it helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12,857.78 kilocarbons. This is another important step in creating a new tourism ecosystem that is progressing toward the goal of truly sustainable tourism. Let’s make the Thai tourism industry grow strong, stable, and sustainable together. (PRD)
