CHIANG MAI, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting both locals and tourists to experience the supernatural at the “Goosebumps Chiang Mai” festival, a continuation of the earlier Bangkok event.

Set to take place from August 29 to September 1 at the railway public park in the Muang Chiang Mai municipality, the festival will offer a blend of traditional Thai beliefs, local cuisine, and thrilling entertainment.

The festival, a joint initiative between TAT and Chiang Mai province, will transform the park, which was once bombed during World War II, into a spooky wonderland.

Highlights include a giant statue of Mae Nak (a famous Thai ghost) greeting visitors at the entrance, eerie installations such as spirit houses and a blood-red bridge, and various cultural performances showcasing the beliefs and traditions of northern Thailand.

Over 70 booths will offer a diverse range of activities, from fortune-telling and spiritual merchandise to amusement rides and live music.

Food stalls will serve local delicacies and unique dishes, such as amulet-blessed meatballs. The festival will also include charitable initiatives, such as donations for coffins and other necessities.

TAT hopes that the “Goosebumps Chiang Mai” festival will not only entertain visitors but also encourage them to explore other attractions in the province. (TNA)
