PATTAYA: Thirty-two individuals, Thais and immigrants, were detained at a dining establishment in Pattaya where clients were consuming alcohol and cigarette smoking baraku on Thursday night.

Cops led by Pol Maj Chainarong Chai-in, criminal activity suppression chief at Pattaya police headquarters, robbed Sky Mountain Laem Bali Hai restaurant in tambon Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, around 11.30 pm on Thursday.

They were acting upon info the dining establishment unlawfully enabled clients to consume alcohol and smoke baraku inside the facilities in defiance of controls executed to suppress the spread of Covid-19

When cops showed up, they discovered clients were drinking and cigarette smoking shisha tobacco from baraku, or hookahs.

They detained 24 Thai and 7 foreign clients and one staff member, the caretaker, who were required to Pattaya police headquarters.

The clients were charged with breaking the illness control order and unlawful assembly in infraction of the emergency situation decree.

The caretaker was charged with breaking orders by the Centre for Covid-19 Scenario Administration by enabling alcohols to be taken in inside the facilities, not having a dining establishment licence and unlawfully offering baraku and alcohols.
