A huge fire broke out at Pattaya Drifting Market in Thailand’s Chonburi province on Thursday night, with preliminary damage approximated at 50 million baht (US$ 1.4 million).

At 8 p.m. 27 fire engine from Pattaya city and close-by locations with more than 200 firemens, were dispatched to the scene, Vietnam News Firm reported.

After 2 hours, the fire was brought under control.

Bangkok Post pointed out Bang Lamung district chief Pisit Sirisawatnukul as stating on Friday that the fire triggered an approximated 50 million to 60 million baht in damage.

The fire is thought to have actually begun at a wood bathroom structure of the three-hectare market. Due to strong winds, the fire spread rapidly and damaged the majority of the stores, primarily made from wood and flammable products, reports stated.
