Rayong: The very first public bus services taking a trip to and from U-Tapao International Airport were presented the other day, with 3 brand-new paths linking guests to neighbouring Chon Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat.

An opening event for the paths was held at the airport, situated in Rayong’s westernmost district of Restriction Chang. It was commanded by Department of Land Transportation (DLT) primary Sanith Phromwong.

The brand-new services were presented as part of a Transportation Ministry project to develop road-based transit systems at all of Thailand’s 34 functional airports by the end of the year, he stated at the event.

” Currently, there are transit systems at 22 of Thailand’s airports,” he stated. “By the end of the month, roadway transit networks comparable to U-Tapao’s will be presented at Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani and Trat airports.”

U-Tapao, tipped to be a primary transportation center under fast-tracked efforts to establish the Eastern Economic Passage (EEC), urgently needs such transportation networks, Mr Sanith stated.

According to him, this airport requires 3 brand-new provincial bus paths resulting in and from the airport. Each of the medium-sized buses can bring 19 guests per journey.

The very first path, called Path 398, will take guests from U-Tapao to Trat, going through Chanthaburi.

According to Mr Sanith, the 220km path will stop at both province’s primary bus stations, both of which lie in the provinces’ Muang districts.

Travel time will supposedly take around 3 hours and 15 minutes in between each terminus, and expense 27-130 baht.

The 2nd, Path 399, is to Rayong Bus Terminal 2, in its Muang district.

This is the quickest of the 3 paths at 35km and will cost 11-24 baht, taking around half an hour to finish the whole journey.

The last path, called Path 400, is 100km in length to Chon Buri bus station, dropping in Si Racha district, main Pattaya and Sattahip district along the method.

Mr Sanith stated the whole path will take about one and a half hours to finish, with fares varying from 14-64 baht.

All 3 paths, run by 2 companies, were introduced since 1pm the other day.

According to Mr Sanith, each bus is geared up with GPS-tracking and automated braking systems.

He stated an optimum of 4 buses will be utilized on each path daily, including that more might be released, depending upon need. According to him, the bus schedules will be set up according to schedules of the typical 40 everyday flights at the airport.

Rear Admiral Luechai Sri-eamgool, the airport’s director, stated the other day U-Tapao dealt with more than a million guests in 2015. This year, he anticipates that number to double.

The airport’s 2nd terminal, set to be totally open by next January, is now partly open.

He stated it will ultimately change the old terminal, and will enable U-Tapao to manage upwards of 3 million guests annually.

Terminal 2’s complete opening was initially arranged for last August.
