Rescue employees utilize the ‘Jaws of Life’ to release the caught truck chauffeur after an accident with an 18-wheeler in Laem Chabang.

SRI RACHA, Thailand— An accident including an 18-wheeler and a freight truck on Mab Eang-Laem Chabang Roadway in Sri Racha, on February 14 led to injuries to the freight truck’s chauffeur, Piyanat Somneua, 35, who was caught inside the wreckage and needed instant extraction.

Volunteer rescuers from Sri Racha utilized cutting tools and the “jaws of life” to draw out Piyanat from the mangled car within 20 minutes. Piyanat, who sustained injuries in the mishap, described that he lost control while driving and hit the back of the 18-wheeler trailer in front of him. He was transferred to a healthcare facility in Laem Chabang for medical treatment.

According to Nattawut Srisuwan, 28, the chauffeur of the 2nd 18-wheeler, he discovered Piyanat’s truck routing behind and swerving before the crash. It appeared that Piyanat had actually dropped off to sleep and crashed into the back of his truck in the leftmost lane. Regional authorities are examining the event to figure out the exact situations causing the crash.
