THAILAND EVENT: Immerse Yourself in the Dazzling “Khom Saen Duang” Lantern Festival of Lamphun!
Join us in celebrating one of Lamphun’s most spectacular annual events—the “Khom Saen Duang” Lantern Festival, where the skies light up with a myriad of colorful lanterns at the revered Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawihan. This year, the festival promises to be even grander, attracting visitors from all over the country and beyond!
The Khom Saen Duang Festival is held annually in conjunction with the traditional Northern Thai Yi Peng Festival, which coincides with the Loy Krathong celebration. It serves as a Buddhist offering to Phra That Hariphunchai, one of Northern Thailand’s most venerated temples, and honors Queen Chamadevi, the founding ruler of Lamphun.
Festival Highlights:
- Marvel at thousands of lanterns that beautifully adorn the temple grounds and surrounding areas, creating a mesmerizing and serene atmosphere.
- Participate in merit-making activities by hanging your own lantern, writing down your wishes, and offering them to the Buddha as a symbol of hope and good fortune.
- Experience cultural performances, traditional crafts, and local food stalls that highlight the rich heritage of Lamphun.
Event Schedule:
