Triumph in Pattaya keeps prize in Thailand for a 3rd straight year

PATTAYA: Weka Bhanubandh won the well-deserved title of 2021 Optimist Asian & & Oceanian champ on Friday, keeping in Thailand the prize won by his predecessor Panwa Boonak in 2018 and 2019.
The cruising competition for single-handed rowboats was not held in 2015 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Weka, 14, stressed his acclaimed efficiency on the water today with a top place surface in the last race of the 2021 Optimist Asian & & Oceanian Champion at the Royal Varuna Luxury Yacht Club.
In spite of the around the world pandemic and the attendant travel problems, 65 sailors from 8 nations took part in the week-long regatta at the club, which is Thailand’s premier rowboat cruising school and racing place for sailors of any ages.
